About
On my journey to Automation and Systems Administration
Angel Zabaleta
From Running Restaurants to Building Automation Tools
I spent 8 years in hospitality—starting as a cashier in Ecuador, working my way up to restaurant manager, then moving to New York to continue in the industry. Along the way, I learned how to run tight operations, solve problems on the fly, and lead teams through the chaos of a dinner rush.
But I kept noticing patterns. Manual processes that could be simplified. Tasks eating up hours that could be automated. I started digging into data analytics, earned my IBM certificate, and realized I wanted to build the solutions I kept imagining.
Now I'm in NPower's bootcamp learning networking and systems administration while teaching myself Python, Docker, and automation at night. I run my own Ubuntu VPS, deploy projects with Docker, and I'm building tools that actually solve problems—not just tutorial projects.
The skills translate more than I expected. Debugging a Docker container feels a lot like troubleshooting a POS system during a rush—stay calm, work through it methodically, fix it fast. I'm still solving problems, just in a different environment.
My edge? I'm bilingual (English/Spanish), I understand operations from the ground up, and I'm not afraid to learn in public. I'm building toward automation engineering, RPA development, and PropTech—and I'm documenting every step.
💼 What I'm Learning & Building
Systems Administration
Mastering networking, Linux, and cloud infrastructure through NPower bootcamp. Learning IP addressing, subnetting, Windows Server, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
Workflow Automation
Building automation tools with N8N, Python, and APIs. Self-hosting on Ubuntu VPS with Docker, Traefik, and Dokploy.
PropTech & Real Estate
Leveraging bilingual skills (English/Spanish) to build dual-purpose automation tools for real estate workflows and property management.
⭐ My Values
01Build First, Talk Later
I learn by building. Every project teaches me something new. I believe in shipping real tools, not just completing tutorials.
02Operations Mindset
8 years in hospitality taught me process optimization, problem-solving under pressure, and team coordination — skills that translate directly to DevOps and automation.
03Bilingual Advantage
Fluent English, native Spanish. I can serve diverse markets and build tools for underserved communities in tech and real estate.
04Self-Taught Discipline
From running my own Ubuntu VPS to learning Python at night after shifts, I'm committed to continuous learning and hands-on practice.
Let's Build Something Amazing
I'm always open to interesting projects and collaborations.
